It's kind of unfathomable.
ReplyDeleteHappily this is one of those instances where I feel reasonably secure in the fact that elite positions on this coincides with mine pretty closely. These views will remain marginal.
This upset me so much I just sent an email to the organization - I didn't have much to say, I just felt the need to express some sort of solidarity.
ReplyDeleteI do think conservative leaders deserve most of the blame for the climate. Newt Gingrich talked about "stealth jihadists" during the ground-zero mosque insanity, and the likes of Glen Beck have somehow gotten gullible people imagining sharia law is right around the corner.
ReplyDeleteI'd wager that the vast majority of people, even in Orange county, would find this sort of thing distasteful, but I think some conservative leaders, for their own cynical purposes, have intentionally kicked a hornet's nest.
